Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri Forges Four-Party Alliance to Lead Future Government

In Rabat, a formal agreement has been reached to establish a government majority comprising four political parties: the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Istiqlal, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), and the Progress and Socialism Party (PPS). The announcement follows two rounds of consultations led by the Head of Government-designate, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, who also serves as the national coordinator of PAM’s collective leadership, to define the framework of the political alliance resulting from the September 23 elections.

In a joint statement, the four parties emphasized that their discussions focused on current economic and social challenges. Their stated objective is to build a coherent majority capable of meeting citizens’ expectations. However, the true test for this coalition will be its ability to fulfill outstanding constitutional commitments. Chief among these priorities is the effective officialization of the Amazigh language and its integration into public policy—a file that has frequently suffered under the traditionalist views of previous governments.

According to the same source, this majority is based on “intellectual and political convergence.” It aims to offer a governmental alternative that overcomes the shortcomings of past administrations. While the official rhetoric highlights social justice and territorial equity, questions remain regarding the genuine willingness of certain coalition members—some of whom maintain strong nationalist and conservative leanings—to break with institutional Arabization in favor of a true rehabilitation of Amazigh identity and language as pillars of the state.

The majority parties are now preparing to nominate candidates for ministerial portfolios, based on criteria of competence and integrity, before finalizing the government program. The future executive must transform slogans regarding rights and freedoms into concrete measures, particularly concerning cultural and linguistic rights. The stakes are high: the new leadership must finally bridge the gap between constitutional provisions and administrative and educational reality.
